LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Japanese metal band Dir En Grey has been forced to back out of their upcoming tour of North America and headling dates in March and April due to the band's vocalist Kyo being diagnosed with vocal node dysphonia.
Vocal node dysphonia is a condition that develops among people who are frequently required to speak or sing loudly and involves tissue masses growing in the vocal cords. Some of the symptoms include hoarseness, painful speech and reduced vocal range. Singer Julie Andrews lost much of her vocal range following a surgery to treat vocal nodules in 1997.
In a post on the band's website, a spokesman for the band wrote:
"As a result of a check-up due to the problems vocalist KYO has been experiencing with his vocal chords, he has been diagnosed with Vocal Nodule Dysphonia. Following doctor's orders Dir En Grey regretfully announces their withdrawal from the upcoming 2012 N. America tour "The STILL RECKLESS Tour" and the cancelation of their headline shows slated for March to April 2012.
Our sincerest apologies to all parties involved and to all fans for any inconveniences this has caused and would like to thank everyone for their kind understanding.
"To all our fans and affiliates, we are deeply sorry and please understand that this has been a very difficult decision for us as a band. To all our fans, please know that we are always thankful for your continuous support."
The 'Still Reckless' tour kicks off in early March with Asking Alexandria with Trivium, I See Stars, Motionless in White, and The Amity. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
