Rainbow Six Siege has shattered its all-time player count record, flexing its enduring popularity. Surpassing a staggering 200,000 concurrent players on Steam, the tactical shooter from Ubisoft surprises everyone by achieving this milestone an astounding nine years after its initial release.
Rainbow Six Siege started its Year 9 about a week ago with Operation Deadly Omen. The new season has brought a lot of excitement, thanks to the shift in meta and the return of the fan-favorite ACOG weapon sight.
On top of that Ubisoft seems to be making more correct decisions by focusing on quality-of-life updates and cheating issues than just bringing in more content. However, we can also not undermine the power of Rainbow Six Siege streamer and content creator, Jynxzi.
Rainbow Six Siege: Breaking Records in Year 9
This record cannot be highlighted enough as it is not easy for a game to reach its peak player count after 9 years since its release in 2015. The FPS shooter hit a peak of 200,476 on 18 March 2024. Note this data is only for Steam players, so it doesn’t include Ubisoft Connect PC players, console, and cloud users.
This is the first time, Rainbow Six Siege has crossed the 200,000 active player threshold. The highest player peak in Siege’s history was previously set in March 2021 with 199,830 online users.
Jynxzi, streamer of the year award-winner, is one of the main reasons R6 Siege got a huge boost in popularity. Jynxzi single-handedly brought new eyes to the game through his fun gameplay and famous 1v1s with other creators.
Ubisoft also saw this opportunity and made the right choice by partnering with Jynzxi during the Y9S1 reveal panel. Even the Six Invitational 2024, hosted in Brazil, turned out to be one of the best esports events of all time and certainly the most-watched Siege event (in terms of concurrent viewers).
There is also a free weekend promotion running and a sale, which also contributed to this impressive record.

Rainbow Six Siege: A Dead Game?
There is a meme in the Rainbow Six Siege community, where everyone states that the game will die any moment now. Ubisoft’s “dead game” continues to beat all efforts and refuses to die, showing the strength and loyalty of the Siege community.
As previously stated, the numbers above are for Steam users only, and as reported by Siege devs before, the main Siege player base plays on consoles. Therefore, we don’t have an accurate player count, which will be much much bigger than 200,000.
Siege continuously remains in the top 5-10 on Steam charts. Even in Year 9, the game is breaking new records, and we have no doubts that the game will keep a healthy player base in the foreseeable future.
