Canyon County, Idaho — A woman is in the hospital and her unborn child is dead after a crash.
Caldwell Police Officers responded to a crash on Middleton Rd. and Lincoln Ave. in Caldwell.
According to Police, when they arrived at the scene the driver and the pregnant passenger were stuck in the vehicle and needed to be rescued. The female passenger was 39 weeks pregnant with her child. She was taken to the hospital by ambulance however the unborn baby did not survive. The male driver of the vehicle, 46-year-old, Jason Heinricks was also transported to the hospital.
Charges against Heinricks are pending.
The Caldwell Police Chief issued a statement on the crash.
“This is very tragic and heartbreaking. There is no excuse for driving impaired and the blatant disregard for human life. We will use every tool available to us to ensure justice is served," Caldwell Police Department, Chief Ingram said.
